Proving it the hard way
In 1998 I self-studied, drove 85 miles, and passed both the Windows NT 4.0 Workstation and Server exams the same day. My first IT role required a 100-mile commute each way. The distance didn't matter — it was an intentional first step, supporting Fairfax County Schools' critical server infrastructure.
At the Missile Defense Agency I architected the human operating systems behind high-availability datacenter operations — leading a 60-person distributed organization responsible for the entire infrastructure lifecycle while maintaining 99.99% uptime.
Leading there demanded systems thinking to navigate complex political structures while supporting high-ranking military and government officials. That environment built the high-stakes operational framework that later underpinned my M&A integration work at scale.
Twenty-eight years of seeing the system
Federal IT infrastructure, datacenter operations, cloud architecture, global content systems, executive leadership. Not as theory — as practice.
When A Cloud Guru acquired Linux Academy in 2019, I drove the integration of both content libraries and the human systems needed to combine rival teams into a globally distributed 100-person business unit — and kept 90% of key talent through it.
When Pluralsight acquired A Cloud Guru for $2 billion in 2021, I led the combined Cloud content team as VP. At Corporate Finance Institute I led content operations for a VC-backed EdTech platform serving a global finance audience.
The instinct to see the architecture underneath the problem became my professional signature.

Promoted to Director through the Linux Academy acquisition. Led 50 Training Architects, architected content strategy for the world's largest cloud training library, and led the integration of the global cloud content team.
Authored AWS Essentials, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and AWS Advanced Networking Specialty. Linux Academy was acquired by A Cloud Guru in 2019.
Delivered advanced infrastructure training globally as a NetApp Certified Instructor. Developed the first version of the NetApp and Cisco FlexPod curriculum.
Taught US Army, Homeland Security, FAA, SAIC, IBM, Cisco, NetApp, Accenture, Walmart, Qualcomm, 3M, Truist, Invesco, CenturyLink, CDW, University of Michigan, and others.
Founded and operated a managed compute, web hosting, and website design company. Led integration through two acquisitions and achieved a 30% operational cost reduction.
